PANO – 14 salt-water filtering systems, made by the Ba Ria-Vung Tau University, have been installed in DK1 platforms to supply fresh water for fishermen and troops.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Chim Lang, Rector of the university, said that the reverse osmosis (RO) technology-applied sea water desalination system "SDViCo" is a small sized device operated by solar energy with a capacity of 100 litres per hour. The filtered water meets all quality standards.

SDViCo systems are to be installed in DK1 platforms

Last year, the university presented a "SDViCo" to a DK1 platform. After that, learning about the system’s efficiency, the Ba Ria-Vung Tau provincial People’s Committee financed 14 more ones for other platforms.

According to Colonel Nguyen The Dinh, Commissar of DK1 Battalion under the Naval Region II Command, troops in platforms previously used to depend on rain-water, but it is enough in rainy season. In dry season, fresh water was very scarce as it has to be transported from the mainland.
