Foreign sailor rescued at sea
PANO – A crew-member of Container Ship MSC ESTHI was brought to Da Nang city for emergency treatment at around 1:00pm on September 10.
Earlier, Dorde Perunovic, 1969, from Montenegro, quickly fell into a coma, which could endanger his life, while working on the ship in the waters of Hoang Sa (Paracel) Islands of Vietnam.
At that time, the Panama-flagged vessel was on its voyage from Singapore to China. After giving him first aid, the ship sent a mayday signal to the mainland.
After receiving the information, the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center sent its Ship 412 with a medical team to the scene.
As soon as the Vietnamese rescue ship reached the vessel, Vietnamese doctors gave emergency aid to the sick sailor.
The victim then was taken ashore for further treatment.
