Accordingly, the project, funded by the U.S. government, aims to improve the quality of life of persons with disabilities in eight provinces heavily affected by Agent Orange, including Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Binh Dinh, Kon Tum, Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, and Tay Ninh in the period from 2021 to 2026.

The project has focused on medical and rehabilitation support services to enhance disabled people’s health conditions and their life quality and set a target to build 10 medical facilities providing multi-disciplinary rehabilitation services in each province and set up a contingent of medical personnel to provide rehabilitation services in each specialized area for more than 10,000 people.

Meanwhile, the project has implemented social services to help disabled victims reintegrate into society and create positive changes in awareness of and attitudes towards persons with disabilities, among others.

Reportedly, over the past time, about 18,000 persons with disabilities and AO/dioxin victims have been screened and 9,000 people have received rehabilitation services. Meanwhile, the project has trained 500 medical staff in rehabilitation sector and provided treatment for 10,000 persons with disabilities and AO/dioxin victims, to name but a few.
