Vietnamese, Lao military units sign twinning agreement
PANO - The Border Posts of Tay Trang International Border Gate, Thanh Luong, and Pa Thom under Vietnam’s Dien Bien Provincial Border Guard Command, together with Border Company 119 of Laos’ Phongsaly Provincial Military Command, signed twinning agreements on May 26 in Pa Thom village, Pa Thom commune, Dien Bien district, Dien Bien province.

Over recent years, the border protection forces of both sides have maintained unity and actively coordinated in accordance with the agreement on border and border gate management signed by the two governments. These efforts have contributed to strengthening friendship and solidarity, as well as promoting socio-economic and cultural development for people living along the shared borderline.

Under the agreement, the two sides will regularly exchange information and updates related to the management and protection of borderlines and border markers, developments in border areas, and issues involving illegal crossings, unauthorized entry and exit, free migration, and other cross-border criminal activities.
They will also strengthen professional exchanges on border affairs and cooperate in the fight against various crimes, including illegal trafficking, transportation, and storage of drugs, weapons, explosives, and other contraband.

Both sides will support each other in both material and spiritual aspects of border management and protection, while increasing exchanges and mutual visits during traditional holidays, national celebrations, and significant anniversaries of each side.
