The two helicopters land at Tan Son Nhat international airport. |
The two patients were Ahmadi Ally, a crew-member of container ship CHARLESTON flying Tanzania flag, who had signs of hypoglycemia and a deep coma and Svensson Dan Leo Viking, a Swedish living and working in Phu Quoc city, Kien Giang province, who suffered from abdominal pain and injury in right ureter and needed an urgent surgery. Container ship CHARLESTON was operating in the waters nearly 300km off Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
Despite bad weather conditions at night, the flight crews effectively handled all situations and the helicopters landed safely at Tan Son Nhat international airport in Ho Chi Minh City. Right after the landing, the two patients were hospitalized at France-Vietnam Hospital and Vinmec International General Hospital.
Conducting emergency flights for foreigners in the context of the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic was humane, contributing to affirming Vietnam's maritime sovereignty and at the same time improving the capacity, prestige and professionalism of Vietnamese helicopter crews in emergency airlifts.
