Action month for children 2017 launched
The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, in coordination with the Hanoi municipal People’s Committee, on May 27 launched the action month for children 2017.
The month-long campaign is intended to promote the enforcement of the Child Law as well as preventing and combating violence against children and child abuse.

Addressing the launching ceremony, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh urged centrally-run ministries, sectors, organizations and local administrations to actively increase public awareness of the 2016 Child Law and its guiding documents and strictly observe the Prime Minister’s instruction on taking drastic measures to prevent and combat violence against children as well as child abuse.
Thinh asked competent agencies to focus on providing teachers, babysitters, parents and other family members with knowledge and skills to protect children and prevent child abuse. Children themselves should also be given knowledge and self-defense skills, she said.
Meanwhile, Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung voiced his hope that adults, especially parents, would say “no” to violence against children and child abuse.
The minister also asked relevant agencies to promote the popularization of the Child Law and strictly punish child abusers.
The action month for children will take place from June 1-30 with the aim of encouraging people create a safer environment for children, keeping them away from violence and abuse.
A national hotline, 18001567, will be available to receive any report on such behaviors.
