At the reception, Nga shared that on August 22, the Paris Court of Appeal rejected the civil lawsuit filed by her against the 14 U.S. chemical corporations that supplied Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin for the U.S. military to use during the war in Vietnam. However, she does not give up but keeps pursuing this lawsuit. She took the case to the highest appeals court.

Meanwhile, Nga expressed sincere thanks to the Vietnamese Foreign Affairs Ministry for creating the most favorable conditions to and going along with her to raise the voice and legitimate demands of Vietnamese AO/dioxin victims. She hoped that Vietnamese functional agencies would further support her on-going pursuit of the lawsuit, as well as boost dissemination activities to raise people’s awareness of the fight for justice for Vietnamese AO/dioxin victims.

In turn, Deputy Minister Hang underlined that Nga’s pursuit of the lawsuit over the past years has shown her extraordinary will and courage to seek justice for Vietnamese AO/dioxin victims. The Deputy Minister also stressed that Nga’s efforts and valuable contributions are an example of the tireless struggle for peace and justice for AO/dioxin victims and their families, who are day by day, hour by hour facing pains caused by severe AO/dioxin aftermath.

Deputy Minister Hang shared that, though the war in Vietnam is over, the severe consequences still have a profound impact on the country and people of Vietnam, including persistent AO/dioxin issue. She affirmed that, on the arduous journey to seek justice for victims of Agent Orange/dioxin, Nga and her colleagues always have companionship and support from their homeland.

Also at the reception, Deputy Minister Hang received some comments and proposals from Nga, and then asked the ministry’s relevant organs to soon work with functional agencies to find measures.
