Artistic exchange raises awareness of consequences of AO/Dioxin
PANO - An artistic exchange entitled “Light up future” took place on August 8 evening in Hanoi to mark the 63 years of the Agent Orange (AO)/Dioxin Disaster in Vietnam (August 10, 1961 - 2024), the Day for Victims of AO/Dioxin (August 10), and the 20th anniversary of the foundation of the Vietnam Association for Victims of AO/Dioxin (VAVA).
The event, broadcast live on the Vietnam Defense Television Channel, was jointly organized by the VAVA Central Committee, Standing Office of the National Steering Committee on the Settlement of Consequences of Post-war Unexploded Ordnance and Toxic Chemicals (Office 701) and the Military Broadcasting Center.

Reports and exchanges with AO victims and their families as well as typical artistic performances during the event were expected to help raise social community’s awareness of the heavy consequences of toxic chemicals used in the war in Vietnam.
Addressing the artistic exchange, VAVA President Lt. Gen. Nguyen Huu Chinh emphasized that this program aimed to emphasize the attention and efforts of the Party, the State, and the political system; the spirit of pro-activeness, creativity, responsibility, and compassion of VAVA’s all-level affiliates and cadres; the support and assistance from local people, benefactors at home and international friends to the settlement of consequences of toxic chemicals; the care for, the support to and the fight for justice for AO victims, particularly the effective livelihood assistance given to AO victims and their families.

It recalled the traditions, and reviewed achievements gained by VAVA over the past two decades as well.
This program also honored outstanding cadres of VAVA at all levels, typical AO victims who have risen in life to have a stable life, domestic and international individuals and organizations having joined hands in easing AO pains.

Also in this event, the organizers continued calling for more donations at home and abroad to further support AO victims. Donations should be sent to the “For victims of AO/Dioxin” Program via the national humanitarian e-portal or the Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB) account number 1961 of the “AO Victims” Fund.
