PANO - A ceremony marking the 90th traditional day of the Vietnamese revolutionary press (June 21, 1925-2015) was held to honour Vietnamese journalists on June 21st at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Cultural Palace in Hanoi.

Accordingly, 9 A prizes, 26 B prizes and 54 C prizes were presented to the winners at the event. The winning works were selected from more than 1,460 entries. Two journalists of the People's Army Newspaper (PAN) won an A prize (The series of "Vietnam affirming its national sovereignty from convincing legal evidence" by journalist Nguyen Xuan Hoa) and a C prize (The series of "The endogenous power to prevent against a cultural invasion" by journalist Nguyen Van Hai).

Addressing the event, President Truong Tan Sang praised the revolutionary press as real soldiers who, with pens and paper as their weapons, have made great contributions to the national liberation, construction and defence cause. The press has increasingly developed along with the national revolution and renovation process, he added. He called on the press to continue highlighting accurate information on the country's socio-economic development, while serving as a bridge connecting the people with the Party and the Government.

In conclusion, the President stressed that the country has been in a very important period, the era of renovation and integration, so the revolutionary press should continue improving its content and quality to strengthen the people’s trust, as well as upholding its lead role on the thought front.
