The Viet Nam Fatherland Front (VFF)'s Central Committee on Nov. 17 held a ceremony to mark its 76th anniversary (Nov. 18).

More than 200 intellectuals, religious dignitaries, representatives from ethnic groups and overseas Vietnamese attended the ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony, President of the VFF Central Committee Pham The Duyet affirmed that the motto of great national unity of the Viet Nam National United Front (now the VFF) is a national glorious tradition, a red thread penetrating the Communist Party of Viet Nam's revolutionary policy and a great lesson for the national revolution.

Duyet also suggested the Fatherland Front at all levels and its member organisations raise the effectiveness of their work, accelerate the patriotic emulation movements and implement the campaign "Day for the Poor". He said the fatherland front at all levels should mobilise all strata of people to strictly execute the Law on Anti-Corruption and the Law on Thrift Practice and Anti-wastefulness, said the VFF President.

On the occasion, State President Nguyen Minh Triet signed a decision to bestow the Medal of Great National Unity, the noble award of the State, on 58 individuals who made major contributions to building, consolidating and strengthening the great national unity bloc over the past 76 years.
