Various activities in response to World Environment Day

PANO – On May 25th, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment held a press conference in Hanoi to mark World Environment Day (WED) (June 5th), Vietnam’s Sea and Islands Week, and World Oceans Day 2016 (June 8th).
The main activities of the WED to be held in Lao Cai province include: live broadcast of the launching ceremony “Action Month for Environment” in Lao Cai city; freeing wild animals; tree planting at Hoang Lien Son National Park; and a seminar themed “The role of Vietnam Veterans in biodiversity conservation and protection of endangered species in Vietnam".

In addition, a series of activities will also be launched in Hanoi.These include: the National Forum on Environment and Development; the review of “Action Month for the Environment”; and a jogging program called “Vietnam Green Journey”.
According to the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), WED 2016 - themed “Nature’s call and our actions” (Go wild for life) - aims to inspire people around the world to take action to prevent the increasing strain on Earth’s natural systems.
The main events of Vietnam’s Sea and Islands Week will be launched on June 6th to 8th. The National ceremony to observe World Oceans Day - and Vietnam’s Sea and Islands Week, themed “For a Green Planet” - will kick off on June 8th at Thinh Long resort in Hai Hau district, Nam Dinh province.
After the ceremony, a volunteer campaign to clean beaches - and a bike parade in response to Vietnam’s Sea and Islands Week 2016 - will also be organized.
