PANO - State President Truong Tan Sang hosted a reception to representatives from the Liaison Committee of the Central Highlands (B3) Front, Army Corps 3 at the Presidential Palace on July 22nd.

In the resistance war to defend the nation, people and troops of the Central Highlands many campaigns were launched, namely Plei-me, Sa Thay, Dac To-Tan Canh and Buon Ma Thuot, to help change the situation of the war.

Founded on the basis of the regular units of the Central Highlands Front, Army Corps 3 was side by side with ethnic minority groups in the fight against foreign invaders and their victories made considerable contributions to the final victory of the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, resulting in the liberation of South Vietnam and the reunification of the nation.

To have resounding victories, more than 30,000 officers and troops of the corps sacrificed their lives on different battlefields in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia and in northern border regions.

In the national construction, the corps again joined hands in economic development and building the Central Highlands into a strong and rich strategic region.

Returning to their normal lives, the unit’s former troops have remained shining examples for younger generations and encouraged each other to surmount difficulties.

At the reception, the State President commended their great contributions and confirmed that the Party, the State and people are always grateful for their sacrifice for national independence and freedom.

He also exchanged views with them on lessons on national construction and protection and highly appreciated their opinions on leadership and national defence.

The State President hoped that with their experience in the war time and social work in the peace time, they would continue contributing opinions to the cause of the national construction and protection.
