The Ministry of Education and Training has asked teachers and pupils at all education levels to sing the national anthem while pledging allegiance to the flag.
Many schools used a recording of the national anthem rather than asking their students to sing, which diminished the solemn meaning of the pledge, said the ministry.
The ministry also asked educational organisations to cooperate with the Ho Chi Minh City Communist Youth Union to disseminate more information about the meaning of the national anthem among students.
