Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has called on entrepreneurs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to explore the Vietnamese market and establish partnerships with Vietnamese businesses, pledging preferential policies for them to operate efficiently in the country.

While working with leaders of theAbu Dhabi chamber of commerce and industry in Abu Dhabi on February 16, Mr Dung said that the two countries have great potential for increasing cooperation, especially in oil and gas, energy, infrastructure construction, real estate and agriculture.

He said that bilateral cooperation in such areas as trade, investment and labour has grown and flourished since a visit to Vietnam in September 2007 by Vice President and Prime Minister Mohammeed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum.

Vietnam attaches importance to strengthening relations with Middle East countries, with priority given to the UAE, said Mr Dung.

He introduced Vietnam’s advantages, saying the country has joined the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the World Trade Organisation (WTO). It is developing a market economy and has an abundant supply of labour favourable for investment and business activity.

He welcomed UAE entrepreneurs’ plan to visit Vietnam this June to explore investment opportunities.

He spoke highly of the result of cooperation programmes, as well as the role thechambers of commerce and industry of Vietnam and Abu Dhabi play in boosting investment ties. He proposed that the two sides organise meetings for their businesses todraw up cooperation plans for their mutual benefit.

Later Mr Dung and his counterpartAl-Maktourm witnessed the signing ofcooperation documents between the two chambers.

In the morning, PM Dung met with leaders of Capitalland group.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung began a three-day visit to the UAE on February 15. He is being accompanied by more than 100 leading Vietnamese businesses.
