PANO - Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong considered that ambassadors and heads of Vietnam’s representative offices to foreign countries should have “firm political stance, good knowledgeableness and skillfulness”, and hoped that newly-appointed ambassadors and heads of Vietnam’s overseas representative agencies will excellently fulfill tasks assigned by the Party, State and people.

He talked to the senior diplomats of the 2016-2019 working term at a meeting in the Party Central Committee’s headquarters in Hanoi on August 27.

The event was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations Hoang Binh Quan.

At the meeting, the ambassadors and heads of representative agencies expressed their honor to be entrusted to the positions. They promised to do their utmost to accomplish the assigned tasks, contributing to bolstering Vietnam’s friendship and cooperation with other countries and international organizations while taking full advantage of foreign resources for national development.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong instructed that they should always thoroughly grasp the Party and State’s guidelines and viewpoints, especially on foreign relations and international integration, saying that this will serve as a good basis for them to successfully fulfill their missions. The Party’s chief also held that the diplomats should have an in-depth understanding of their target countries, particularly about politics, economics, culture and geography, as this will help them much in executing their tasks.

He asked all the senior diplomats to give first and foremost priority for national independence and socialism, and to work for the sake of national interests, national development and the Fatherland protection.
