PANO – Lang Biang Natural Reserve in Lam Dong province (in the Central Highlands) has been recognized as a UNESCO biosphere reserve.

The recognition was made at the 27th session of the International Coordinating Council (ICC) of the Man and Biosphere Programme (MAB) on June 9th in Paris, France.

The natural reserve covers an area of over 270,000 hectares in the north of the province and is home to more than 2,000 flora species and nearly 400 fauna species, of which 153 species are named in Vietnam’s Red Data Book.

The Lang Biang’s new title is considered to be motivation for the province's sustainable development, especially in tourism, scientific researches and rare genes sources' preservation in the time to come.
