After the appendectomy, the patient is now recovering.
Meanwhile, on September 21 afternoon, patient Nguyen Duc Hai was flown from Bach Long Vi Island district of the Northern port city of Hai Phong to Hanoi-based Gia Lam Airport by a helicopter assigned by the Defense Ministry before being hospitalized at Bach Mai Hospital for further treatment.
Patient Hai, aged 34 and living in Lap Le commune, Hai Phong city’s Thuy Nguyen district was taken to the Bach Long Vy Military-Civilian Medical Center after suffering from a stomachache while fishing in the Tonkin Gulf. At the medical center, Hai was diagnosed with having perforated appendix that could threaten his life if an urgent surgery had been conducted.
Due to rough sea and strong winds, the patient could not be moved ashore by ship; thus, the center’s doctors decided to perform an emergency surgery on him. Upon receiving the doctors’ request, the Health Ministry asked the Defense Ministry and Bach Mai Hospital to fly the patient ashore for further treatment.
