Experts from The Fauna and Flora International (FFI) have announced their findings regarding the presence of hundreds of rare primates in the Phong Nha-Ke Bang world natural heritage site in central Quang Binh province.

They said on March 22 that up to 115 southern white cheeked gibbons (Nomascus leucogenys siki) and 137 individuals of Pygathrix nemaeus nemaeus have been identified during their survey at the National Park.

The two species of primate are listed as needing protection in the Vietnamese and world red books.
