Ca Mau Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development announced on March 8th that more than 7,200 hectares of the U Minh Ha Forest are currently in drought conditions, and at a high risk for forest fires.

Reportedly, 1,587hectares of forest around the Trem River and 1,360 hectares in Binh Tay Bac Commune, Tran Van Thoi District, and the U Minh Ha National Forest are dangerous dry and at alarmingly high levels of risk..

Ca Mau Provincial authorities are currently taking various, urgent measures to prevent forest fires in those regions, such as constructing levees around the forests to preserve water, erecting fire-watch towers, and reinforcing the system of communications and anti-fire facilities in the area.
