Prime Ministers Nguyen Tan Dung and Jaroslaw Kaczynski affirmed their determination to implement measures aimed at further promoting economic, trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and Poland.
A welcome ceremony for Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his entourage was held in Warsaw on September 14.
Immediately after the welcome ceremony, PM Dung and his Polish counterpart Jaroslaw Kaczynski held talks in which they affirmed their determination to implement measures aimed at further promoting economic, trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and Poland.
The Polish PM praised the visit by PM Dung and his entourage as a vivid manifestation of the time-honoured friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Mr Kaczynski said Poland appreciates the role of the Vietnamese community in speeding up its socio-economic development and bilateral relations and it is ready to assist Vietnam in strengthening military and technical know-how, national defence and security as well as promoting its relations with the European Union (EU).
For his part, PM Dung said in the context of globalisation and international integration, Vietnam attaches great importance to consolidating and developing the ties of friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Poland on the basis of independence, self-reliance and mutual benefit.
Vietnam is ready to serve as a bridge to Poland’s cooperation with ASEAN member countries, Mr Dung said.
Host and guest believed that the visit will contribute to further strengthening and developing bilateral cooperation more effectively and substantively in the new period.
The two PMs informed each other of the situation in each country and exchanged views on issues related to bilateral and multilateral relations with a view to boosting Vietnam-
Poland cooperation in many fields, especially in economics, trade and investment.
In his speech to the press, PM Dung said the two sides agreed to open a direct fight to push up trade, investment and tourism and to boost bilateral cooperation in education and training and culture and create favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Poland to stabilise their lives in accordance with Polish and Vietnamese laws.
Vietnam and Poland will strive to raise two-way trade turnover to more than US$500 million in the next few years and expand cooperation in shipbuilding, energy, farm product and food processing, relic preservation and establishment of direct links between enterprises and localities.
Poland will continue providing credits for Vietnam to develop the shipbuilding industry and in return, Vietnam will import equipment from Poland to develop this industry.
The two countries voiced support for each other’s bid for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council.
The two PMs agreed on the contents of granting a 16.47 million Euros preferential credit for a project to build a national laboratory centre in Hoa Lac hi-tech zone.
After the talks, PM Jaroslaw Kaczynski gave a banquet in honour of PM Dung, his wife and entourage.
Later in the evening (Hanoi time), PM Dung is expected to meet with leaders from the two Houses of Parliament, give a speech at the Vietnam-Poland Business Forum and visit the Unknown Soldiers’ Monument.
