581 outstanding pupils from prestigious secondary schools in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hue, Danang and Binh Duong, have taken part in the qualifying round of the Asia-Pacific Mathematical Olympiad for Primary Schools 2011 (APMOPS 2011).

The contest’s qualification includes two rounds. In the first round, which was held on April 9th at Kinder World Group’s schools in Hanoi, Danang and Ho Chi Minh City, candidates had to complete a test with 30 questions in English within 120 minutes.

10 best candidates of the first round will be chosen to compete in the second round, to be held on May 28th in Singapore.

40 valuable prizes will be presented to best candidates in the round.

APMOPS has drawn the participation of nearly 8,000 students from 14 countries in the Asia-Pacific region. 330 candidates competed at APMOPS 2009, which was held for the first time in Vietnam. Two Vietnamese pupils ranked the eleventh and twentieth at the last year’s contest.

The competition is held by Vietnam Kinder World Group and the Hwa Chong Institution in Singapore.
