Agent Orange victims at Hoa Binh Children's Village in Hanoi

Chairman of the France-Vietnam Friendship Association (AAFV) Francis Gendran on August 8 sent a letter to the Agent Orange Victims of Vietnam Association for Vietnam Agent Orange Victims’ Day (August 10) and another to United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

In the letter, Francis asked international scientists to continue researching long-term effects of Agent Orange/dioxin on Vietnamese people and find methods to help them overcome long-term consequences.

He also appealed for support and donations from the world community for specific activities to care for AO victims and environmental protection. In addition, he requested the US government to take responsibility for these consequences.

The same day, a delegation of 9 members of the Movement of Communist Youth of France met with members of the Vietnam Agent Orange Victims’ Association (VAVA).

Seassau Aymeric, head delegate, said that during its 10-day visit to Vietnam, the delegation would build some wells for citizens in Dac Lac. “We wish to do something to help Vietnamese Agent Orange victims through VAVA or the Ho Chi Minh Youth Union”, he said.
