New features of this year’s summer camp are a ceremony to honor young overseas Vietnamese with outstanding results in the knowledge contest on the national sea and islands, a seminar with the participation of domestic youths and students, and a story-telling contest in the Vietnamese language. These activities aim to enhance exchange, promote traditional culture and mother tongue, love for the homeland, national pride, and show respect for and encouragement to young OVs with contribution to community work and achievements in studying and research.
Vietnam Summer Camp is among annual activities of the State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs with the aim of creating a playground for young OVs to exchange with their compatriots at home, return to the root, and contribute more to the national construction and defense.
Since 2004, such a camp has attracted the participation of nearly 2,000 young expats, who are role models in studying, sports, arts and community-building affairs, from over 30 countries and territories worldwide.
