Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) Nguyen Van Ngang attended a ceremony to inaugurate the Support Center for Migrant Workers in Seoul, the Republic of Korea (RoK) on October 10.

The activity part of a bilateral cooperation program between VGCL and the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) signed on June 22 to protect Vietnamese workers in the RoK, Lao dong (Labor) newspaper reported on October 12.

Speaking at the event, Ngang hailed collaboration between VGCL and KCTU in a wide range of areas, especially in the sharing of information and experience in protecting the rights of young, old, female and migrant labourers; promoting social insurance coverage and social welfare; boosting the minimum wage and labor hygiene and safety.

To enhance bilateral ties, he said the KCTU will protect the rights of nearly 75,000 workers in the country under the Employment Permit System program.

He expressed his hope that Vietnamese guest workers will stay united, abide by law and integrate into the host society.
