“Many Vietnamese-Germans are living, working and studying in our country. Therefore, Germans need to learn more about Vietnamese culture and origins in order to live together better”, said Sonnenberg Petra, director of Magdeburg’s Children and Youth Education Cuture Centre.
In their first three days in Hanoi, the delegation visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the Temple of Literature, the Bat Trang Trade Village, West Lake and the Vietnamese Youth Museum.
“I want to speak more Vietnamese language. I, however, only have a chance to speak just a few words with my father in the evening”, Nguyen Duc Nam, a Vietnamese-German, said haltingly in Vietnamese language.
“We would like to discover and learn more about Vietnam and its people, a peaceful and hospitable country”, stressed Nils Falkenberge, aged 20.
As scheduled, the German youth delegation will go to the Hai Duong Children Patronage Centre, the Cuc Phuong National Park, and the ancient city of Hue.
