The remains, collected by excavation teams of the 123rd Joint Field Activities between May and June of 2016, were examined by Vietnamese and US forensic experts in the central city of Da Nang. They might be of US servicemen missing in action during the Vietnam War and would be transported to Hawaii, US for further examination.
Addressing the ceremony, a representative of the US Government thanked the Vietnamese Government and people for their humanitarian policy, good will and effective cooperation.
