Over the past six months, localities have verified information, surveyed, and searched at 152 locations, utilizing a total of 2,135 working days. To date, the whole region has recovered 109 sets of remains.
For operations in Lao, Team K53 (under the Quang Ngai provincial Military Command) surveyed 12 suspected sites, excavating over 1,000 cubic meters of soil and rock, with over 600 working days to recover 10 unidentified sets of remains.
In Cambodia, specialized teams searched 54 locations, excavating over 3,200 cubic meters of soil and rock over 48,000 working days, recovering 51 unidentified sets of remains.
Regarding sampling and digitization, the military region has excavated 8,121 unidentified martyrs’ graves (accounting for 14.24% of the target). Of these, 4,637 graves were eligible for sampling (57.1%), while 3,484 were ineligible (42.9%). The forces have handed over 554 samples of remains.
* On the same day, the martyrs’ remains search and collection team of the Ho Chi Minh City Military Command reported they have found four additional sets of remains and some belongings at Le Thi Rieng Park.
Thus far, functional forces have recovered a total of 100 individual sets of remains, two collective sets, and numerous belongings at this site.
Despite the challenging conditions, officers and soldiers maintain their determination to fulfill the assigned mission. Over the past days, numerous local residents have visited Le Thi Rieng Park to offer incense and flowers in tribute to the fallen heroes.
