Memorial and burial services to be organized for Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors in Laos
PANO - The special task committee of Nghe An province held a conference on May 7 to assign tasks for the organization of the memorial and burial ceremony for the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors in Laos collected during the 2024-2025 dry season.
Vice Chairman of the Nghe An provincial People’s Committee and head of the province’s special task committee Phung Thanh Vinh chaired the event.
Since 1984, the province has found and gathered more than 13,200 sets of martyrs’ remains, including nearly 500 in the province and over 12,700 in the three Lao provinces of Xieng Khouang, Vientiane, and Xaysomboun.
During the 2024-2025 dry season, as of May 7, the Search and Collection Team of the Nghe An provincial Military Command found and collected 73 sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors in Laos.

The provincial Military Command required agencies and units to coordinate with departments, branches, mass organizations and local authorities to make good preparation for the repatriation and the memorial and burial ceremony for the remains, which is scheduled for May 20 at Nghi Loc district's War Cemetery in the province.
At the event, Mr. Phung Thanh Vinh required agencies and units to continue to carry out thorough preparations; closely coordinate with Lao provinces to ensure good preparation for the reception, handover, and talks, as well as the organization of the burial ceremony as planned.
