In recalling the Dien Bien Phu Victory, the meeting aimed at promoting patriotism and heroic traditions of the military among officers and soldiers, helping them build on their political willpower and determination to overcome all difficulties to complete their assigned missions.

Meanwhile, discussion of books' significant role in life and at work during the meeting helps troops have more interest in reading books to improve their knowledge to better perform their tasks.

Speaking at the event, Senior Colonel Chu Van Doan, Chief of the Department of Politics under the General Staff, stressed that all units and agencies under the General Staff should give detailed information about the cause, developments and results of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign as well as the historical significance of the Dien Bien Phu Victory to their troops, especially young ones.

He suggested the General Staff improve its library system and Ho Chi Minh bookcases and add books regularly to libraries and bookcases to meet increasing demand of troops for reading books in the coming time.
