Defense leader extends New Year greetings to Vietnam Veterans’ Association’s Central Committee
PANO - A delegation of the Central Military Commission (CMC) and the Ministry of National Defense (MND), led by Deputy Chief of the General Staff Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, visited and extended New Year greetings to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans’ Association on January 13.
Sr. Lt. Gen. Be Xuan Truong, former Deputy Defense Minister and President of the Vietnam Veterans’ Association, received and briefed the delegation on the outcomes of the association in 2024 and its orientation for missions in 2025.

In 2024, the Vietnam Veterans’ Association at all levels worked closely with the Vietnam Fatherland Front and other socio-political organizations to effectively fulfill the function of giving advice to local authorities and encouraging veterans and former soldiers to maintain and promote the qualities of the “Uncle Ho’s Soldiers” and the tradition of “Loyalty - Solidarity - Exemplarity - Innovation.” They remained steadfast, pro-active, and vanguard in conducting the key political tasks in their localities, agencies, and units, and continued to serve as a reliable support for the Party, authorities, and people.
Speaking at the event, General Tan emphasized that in 2024, under the direction of the General Staff, the whole military successfully completed both regular and unexpected military and defense tasks. They ensured a high level of combat readiness, maintained close monitoring of the situation, and provided timely advice and proposals to the CMC, the MND, contributing to responding to circumstances in a timely manner to firmly safeguard national sovereignty and maintaining security and order in localities across the country.
On the occasion of the lunar New Year, General Tan extended his New Year greetings to the leadership of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans’ Association and all veterans in Vietnam, wishing them to continue to uphold the virtues of Uncle Ho’s Soldiers and serve as shining examples for military officers, soldiers, and their descendants to follow.
