Memorial and burial service for fallen soldiers held in Thanh Hoa on May 8 |
All of the remains were of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisers who laid down their lives while doing international service in Laos during wartime. They were found in Laos’ Huaphanh province and repatriated home from Laos by the provincial Military Command’s martyrs’ remains search and collection team during the 2019-2020 dry season.
At the ceremony, local leadership, troops, and people of Thanh Hoa province highlighted the contributions and sacrifices of the fallen and promised to preserve and promote the Vietnam-Laos friendship and special solidarity.
On the occasion, the National Steering Committee for search, collection, repatriation, and identification of fallen soldiers' remains, the Military Region 4 Command, and Thanh Hoa province presented gifts to the provincial Military Command’s search team and management board of Dong Tam International War Cemetery.
