Among the newly reburied, 26 were soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives on the battlefield in Khammouane province of Laos.
At the event, a representative from the provincial leadership hailed Search Team 589 under the provincial Military Command for their great efforts to overcome difficulties and to surpass the goals of their missions, especially during the COVID-19 outbreak. He also thanked the Lao province’s authorities and people for their support for the search team in gathering and repatriating remains of fallen Vietnamese troops during the 2019-2020 dry season.
At the ceremony, the participants offered incense to commemorate the fallen soldiers whose sacrifices contributed to consolidating the special friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.
The same day, a similar service was held in Thua Thien-Hue province to bury 15 sets of remains of Vietnamese voluntary troops and experts who laid down their lives in Laos during the war.
