So far, the Vietnam Coast Guard has signed cooperation programs to implement the "Coast Guard accompanying fishermen" mass mobilization scheme with 28 provinces and cities nationwide.
Before signing the cooperation program, units of the Vietnam Coast Guard coordinated with provincial authorities and agencies in Tra Vinh to organize exchanges and sign cooperation agreements in the fight against drug trafficking.
The two sides have collaborated in fighting and busting four drug-related cases, conducted information dissemination and education on laws regarding illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing activities, the 2017 Fisheries Law, and the 2018 Vietnam Coast Guard Law. They have also organized interdisciplinary inspection teams to check the implementation of IUU fishing prevention in the maritime boundary area between Vietnam and Thailand and Malaysia in order to remove the "yellow card" warning as soon as possible.
During the signing conference, the Vietnam Coast Guard presented 200 gifts (1 million VND per gift) to families of policy beneficiaries, ethnic minorities, religious followers, and fishermen facing difficulties in Tra Vinh province.
