At the working session, Chief of the Vietnam Coast Guard Command Major General Le Quang Dao briefed the visiting delegation on the force’s task performance over the past time. Particularly, the coast guard force has strictly observed combat readiness regulations, kept ships on standby at posts in case of emergency, mobilized hundreds of boats to conduct missions at sea, driven away thousands of foreign trawlers encroaching on Vietnam’s waters, saved 20 trawlers with 156 people on board, and captured and handled 1,286 violation cases.

Notably, the Vietnam Coast Command has effectively carried out information dissemination to prevent illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing in 28 coastal provinces and cities and checked and fined trawlers violating the IUU regulation.

The international cooperation has been maintained and carried out by the Vietnam Coast Guard Command in line with directions of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense on defense cooperation with countries in the region and the world.

At the working session, the command brought up difficulties confronting the realization of legal documents and asked N.A. deputies to study and make recommendations to the N.A. and functional agencies to amend and supplement so as to ensure their synchronization to facilitate the operation of the force. 

Talking with crew-members of ships CSB 4038 and CSB 2010 and fishermen who are working at sea through Vinasat system, President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Chairman of the Central Theory Council Nguyen Xuan Thang acknowledged the coast guards’ achievements obtained over the past 25 years and highly appreciated their efforts in overcoming difficulties to fulfill assigned duty as a key force to enforce law at sea and protect maritime security, order, and safety. 

In the coming time, the N.A.’s agencies will continue to study to amend and supplement legal documents to remove obstacles for the coast guard force to excellently complete assigned missions.
