Reputable people are seen as “extended arms” of the border guard force in grasping people’s thoughts and aspirations, thereby building a firm people’s heart posture in border areas.

According to Colonel Luong Tuan Long, Deputy Political Commissar of the Cao Bang provincial Border Guard Command, over the past years, the command has paid due attention to the leadership and direction over the implementation of building the people’s heart posture in border areas via specific measures, with a focus on dissemination activities to raise troops and people’ awareness of the honor and responsibility in safeguarding national sovereignty and border security.

Reportedly, in the first six months of this year, Cao Bang border guards, together with reputable people, have conducted dissemination activities concerning the Law on Beliefs and Religions, the Government’s Decree No.162/2017/ND-CP detailing articles and measures for enforcing the law; policies related to beliefs, religions, and ethnic groups.

Meanwhile, the provincial Border Guard Command has required its affiliated units to coordinate with the local Party Committee, authorities, departments, and functional forces to closely follow and strictly manage religious activities in border areas and conduct dissemination of the State, Government and locality’s documents on beliefs and religions, as well as plots, plots and tricks of hostile forces.

Similarly, Dak Lak border troops have promoted the role of reputable people in border areas. They have truly become “extended arms” of the border guard force in ensuring safety in border areas.

Old Y Mosk Hra, born in 1958, a reputable person in Drang Phok village, Krong Na commune, Buon Don district, Dak Lak province, has always heightened his responsibility in protecting national sovereignty and actively mobilized local people to join hands to safeguard the Fatherland.

Y Mosk shared that border protection has made great contribution to forest protection and prevention of violations of national assets. In return, patrolling and protecting forests have contributed to maintaining security in border areas. Therefore, apart from forest protection, rangers coordinate with the border guard force to carry out patrols to protect national border.

In the first half of 2024, with the support of reputable people, Dak Lak border troops have carried out dissemination activities concerning Decree 34/ND-CP, the Vietnam Border Guard Law, the Laws on National Borders of Vietnam, Land, Marriage and Family Law, among others. Since 2019, border posts under the Dak Lak provincial Border Guard Command have given advice to four communes to establish self-management teams to ensure security and order and protect border and border markers.

Senior Colonel Do Quang Tham, Political Commissar of the Dak Lak provincial Border Guard Command, affirmed that reputable people have been seen as “extended arms” of the border guard force and people, making contribution to tightening the military-civilian ties. They have been considered a bridge in law dissemination and education among local people to encourage them to join hands to protect national sovereignty and border security.

In the time to come, to further promote the role and responsibility of reputable people, Dak Lak border guards would continue to stand side-by-side with local authorities to conduct policies for reputable people and inquire after and organize training courses to expand their range of law-related knowledge. Those people then disseminate the required content to local people, contributing to consolidating political security and social order and safety in border areas.
