Troubled trawler and fishermen saved at sea
PANO – A military delegation paid a visit and extended New Year wishes to nine crew-members of a troubled fishing trawler on January 8 on Hon Chuoi Island (Song Doc Town, Tran Van Thoi District, Ca Mau province).
Earlier, trawler BTH 96472TS captained by Nguyen Xuan Hoang sank due to leakages in its stem when operating about 30 nautical miles Southwest of Hon Khoai Island (Ngoc Hien district, Ca Mau province).
Towing troubled trawler ashore
As the delegation, which was from Binh Duong, Vinh Long, Ca Mau, Hau Giang provinces, Can Tho city and Naval Region 5 Command, visited and extended New Year wishes to troops stationed on Tho Chu Island (Phu Quoc island district of the southern province of Kien Giang) and Hon Khoai Island, they learned the situation of the distressed fishermen. Showing empathy with the fishermen, the delegation decided to provide financial assistance to help them overcome their immediate difficulties.
* On January 7, after receiving a mayday signal, Naval Region 3 sent Ship 952 to the rescue and successfully and safely towed the trawler with all fishermen on board ashore on January 8.
