Fisherman Nguyen Van Thu retells the accident after being rescued by Ship 2007

Previously, on January 16, crewmembers of Ship 2007 heard someone crying for help while undertaking missions at sea. The ship searched and then detected a man holding a lifebuoy with an unconscious man. Immediately, they dropped down the canoe to retrieve the troubled men.

The two victims are fishermen of trawler HP 90441 TS from Lap Le commune, Thuy Nguyen district, Hai Phong City. One of them, Nguyen Van Thu, is still alive while his teammate Dinh Van Dao has died. According to Thu’s account, Dao fell off their trawler while fishing near Bach Long Vy Island. Thu jumped down to save Dao but suddenly his lifebuoy's rope that was tied it to the trawler slipped off. They were adrift for many hours before being rescued by Ship 2007 later the same day.
