On November 5, at Me Suot Street in Hoa Khanh Nam ward, Lien Chieu district, military officers and soldiers actively assisted flood-affected people. Lieutenant Colonel Le Quang Hiep, Commanding Officer of Commando Battalion 409, held that heavy rains caused flooding, with some houses nearly a meter underwater. The unit’s troops evacuated local people and their property for days.

In addition to deploying forces and equipment to help flood-hit areas, Commando Battalion 409 also prepared accommodation, bedding, and food at the unit for affected residents.
In Hoa Hiep Bac ward, Lien Chieu district, Hai Van Border Post of the Da Nang Municipal Border Guard Command wholeheartedly supported local residents though it was raining. Major Nguyen Van Dam, Second-in-command of the post, held that in response to the disaster, they assigned five teams with 35 troops to join hands with local forces in different areas of Lien Chieu district.
Conducting the “four on-spots” motto in disaster prevention and control work, the Da Nang Municipal Military Command quickly mobilized militia force to rush to flood-hit localities in the city to move locals to safer places, facilitated the drainage, and ensure traffic circulation.
According to data from local authorities, on the morning of November 5 alone, forces helped move 321 households with 835 members to safe places.
Amid the complicated developments of weather conditions, military units stationed in the city are putting their forces and vehicles on standby in any disaster-related situations.
