PANO - Lunar New Year (Tet) is a time of reunion for the Vietnamese families. However, at sea, the naval, coast guard, and border guard forces are highly concentrating on protecting national sovereignty over sacred sea and islands.

To encourage them to overcome difficulties to fulfill assigned missions, a delegation of the Coast Guard Command has visited and presented lunar New Year (Tet) gifts from the mainland people to coast guard troops and other forces performing duties at sea and on islands.

Together with apricot and peach blossoms are Banh Tet (cylinder glutinous rice cake) and Banh Chung (square glutinous rice cake) made by mainland officers and soldiers for their comrades on duty at sea.

Due to high waves, the delegation has to use small boats to transport gifts to on-duty ships.
