Patient helicoptered ashore for treatment
PANO – Helicopter Mi-172, numbered 8423, of Regiment 917, Division 370 under the Air Defense - Air Force Service, successfully flew a patient from Vietnam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) Island to the mainland for treatment on October 15.
Earlier, fisherman Nguyen Duc Tam, born 1988, from Ca Mau province, on trawler KG 91781 TS fell on deck and lost consciousness after being hit by a cable while fishing at sea. After the accident, he was immediately sent to the island’s infirmary.

According to the initial diagnosis, the victim suffered multiple injuries. The doctors gave him first aid and decided that the patient should be taken ashore for further treatment.
Once receiving the information, the regiment sent the helicopter with a medical team from Military Hospital 175 under the Defense Ministry to the rescue.
The patient was then taken to Ho Chi Minh City-based Military Hospital 175 for further treatment.
