Earlier on December 6, 2017, Cong, a
nurse of Company 24 of Regiment 5 under Military Region 7’s Division 5, witnessed
a deadly crash at a T-junction in An Nhon Tay commune between a container and a
bicycle which caused one death and made another unconscious. The officer, with
his trained medical expertise and skills, gave first aid to the victim before
taking her to hospital and tried to contact with her relatives. At the hospital,
Vo Minh Chung, the husband of victim Dinh Thi Hanh, in Gia Loc commune,
Trang Bang district, Tay Ninh province thanked the officer’s good deed and expressed
his desire to repay Cong for his kindness, but Cong refused.
In the previous month, Cong had also taken
an injured elderly person in Thai Binh commune, Tay Ninh province’s Chau Thanh
district to hospital while on the way from his home to unit.
The military nurse said that it is
normal to save troubled people and that any soldiers would do the same if they
are in his circumstance when being asked about his deed.
Talking about his comrade, Senior
Lieutenant Nguyen Anh Tuan, Commissar of Company 24, said while studying and working
at the unit, Cong demonstrated his high sense of self-awareness and his willingness
to help others and high responsibility and determination to fulfill effectively
assigned missions.
Admiring Cong’s good deeds, Trinh Minh
Hieu, Deputy-Chief of Office of the Party Committee of Trang Bang district, Tay
Ninh province, wrote a letter to Cong’s Commander, expressing his admiration to
the Uncle Ho’s soldier. He also told the stories to his friends and colleagues,
considering them an inspiration for people to do likewise. This world would be better
if anyone could think and act like Cong, Hieu added.
