The Western border districts of Nghe An province often experience a scarcity of clean water, particularly during the dry season. Teachers and students in highland areas, where the weather is harsh, mainly rely on water sources from high streams and rainwater. During the dry season, there is not enough water for basic needs and daily activities.

To address this issue and provide teachers and students with clean water, Nhon Mai Border Station has partnered with Phuoc Hanh Charity Group to launch the "Accompanying the Border Dormitory in 2023" program and drill clean water wells for schools. The aim is to help students use clean water to develop their physical and intellectual abilities and provide the best conditions for them to become future leaders of the country.

Colonel Phan Thanh Hong, Commanding Officer of Nhon Mai Border Station, spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony and confirmed that this is the fourth well that the station has drilled in collaboration with charitable organizations and kindhearted people to provide for schools in the area. As part of their plan for 2023, they will coordinate to drill eight wells for schools and organizations in the area. This is a humanitarian project that ensures practicality and effectiveness in serving the teaching and learning process of schools in the area.

At the ceremony, the leaders of Tuong Duong district’s Department of Education and Training and the local authority highly appreciated the sense of responsibility and support of the troops of Nhon Mai Border Station in promoting economic and social development, stabilizing life, eliminating hunger, and reducing poverty of the local people.

It is known that each drilling well has a depth of 70 to 90 meters, and the cost to drill each well successfully ranges from VND 40 to 60 million. In addition, Nhon Mai Border Station and Phuoc Hanh Charity Group will also provide water filtration systems to ensure the quality of the water source.
