At the meeting with national contributors from An Giang province, Gen. Minh informed the guests of the whole military’s task performance over the past time. He said that the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense have led and directed agencies and units to actively and pro-actively cooperate with ministries and departments to make proposals to the Party and State on issuing and supplementing documents on policies for families of martyrs and national contributors and for troops’ families. These have helped improve the material and spiritual life of policy beneficiaries and the education for troops about the nation’s good tradition of “When drinking water, remember its source,” and “Gratitude-paying.”

Gen. Hoa informed that over the past 10 years, the whole military has raised over VND 550 billion among officers and soldiers for the “Gratitude-paying” Fund, built more than 7,000 gratitude houses, taken care of 2,879 heroic Vietnamese mothers, and sponsored 702 children of fallen troops and heavily-wounded soldiers.

In addition, the military has presented nearly 6,000 savings books to policy beneficiaries, provided medical supplies, worth over VND 100 billion, to convalescent centers for wounded soldiers and national contributors.

Moreover, party committees and chains-of-command of agencies and units regularly pay due attention to implementing support policies for martyrs’ relatives who are serving in the military, servicemen’s families, and defense workers facing hard living conditions.
