MND hands over VND 40 billion to natural disaster-hit victims
PANO - On September 17, a delegation of the General Department of Political Affairs, led by its Deputy Chief Lieutenant General Truong Thien To, handed over VND 40 billion of the Ministry of National Defense to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to support Typhoon Yagi-hit victims.
Addressing the event, General To noted that over the past days, Typhoon Yagi – the third storm landed in Vietnam this year - left severe consequences to people in the Northern region of the country. Accordingly, the Vietnam People’s Army sent troops to respond to the natural disaster and help victims overcome the aftermath.

In addition, units in the whole military also donated necessities, worth totally hundreds of VND billions, such as food and rice, and helped the storm-hit localities clean the environment and repair social constructions, while offering encouragement to storm victims.
In response to the call of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee to help the storm-hit victims, as an active member of the VFF, the Ministry of National Defense mobilized military enterprises to donate VND 40 billion in cash for the victims.

Vice Chairwoman and Secretary-General of the VFF Central Committee Nguyen Thi Thu Ha affirmed that the money would be used to support those who were affected severely by the storm so that they would be soon stabilize their lives.
