MND donates VND 1 billion to "For the poor" Fund
PANO - On December 5, on behalf of the Ministry of National Defense (MND) and the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP), GDP’s Deputy Director Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh, symbolically presented VND 1 billion to the "For the poor" Fund for 2024.
Receiving the donation, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Do Van Chien expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of National Defense and conveyed a letter of thanks.
During the meeting, Do Van Chien shared updates on the VFF's activities, particularly its implementation of the "For the poor - Leaving no one behind" emulation movement. He acknowledged the noble gesture and compassion of military officers and soldiers, emphasizing that the financial support would be used effectively to reach the intended beneficiaries.

Lt. Gen. Le Quang Minh highlighted that although the donation amount was modest, it symbolized the solidarity and dedication of the military personnel in contributing to the collective efforts of the Party, State, and the VFF to support the underprivileged.
He further informed VFF President about the military's achievements in building houses for policy beneficiaries. As part of the celebration for the 80th founding anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of Whole-People Defense Festive Day, the MND set a target of building 8,000 houses in early 2024. Remarkably, as of December 4, over 15,000 houses were completed, exceeding the initial goal.

Additionally, Gen. Minh highlighted the tireless contributions of military personnel in search and rescue operations during natural disasters, affirming that the military always stands ready to serve the people wholeheartedly. He pledged to continue encouraging officers and soldiers across the armed forces to actively support the "For the poor" Fund.
