Militiamen consolidate dyke
PANO – Around 100 militiamen in Binh Thanh district, Ho Chi Minh City filled around 1,000 sand bags to consolidate a 30-m section of dyke which was found at risk of being broken due to rising tides, on October 27.

Surrounded by branches of the Saigon River, Thanh Da peninsula in Ward 28 of Binh Thanh district is often seriously affected by flood tides. Recently, local authorities and armed forces have applied different measures, including updating information, maintaining strict watches to cope with the situation.
Earlier, on October 21, high tides crested causing a breach in a section of the dyke along the Saigon River and militiamen were mobilized to the scene to reinforce the broken part to minimize the loss of lives and damage to the property of local people.
