This meaningful activity of the Department highlighted the national traditions of “When drinking water, remember its source” and “Ragged leaves protect tattered ones”.

It was also a chance for the General Staff’s troops to express their gratitude to people of Diem Mac commune, where the General Staff’s Political Unit, the predecessor of the General Staff’s present Political Department, was established 70 years ago.

Addressing the event, Deputy-Director of the Political Department Senior Colonel Chu Van Doan affirmed that in the past, the General Staff always embraced gratitude policies and guidelines of the Party and State.

The unit has so far taken care of 35 Vietnamese heroic mothers, raised funds to build over 500 gratitude houses and built bridges, roads, schools, infirmaries and cultural houses nationwide. Notably, the General Staff donated VND 30 million to Dinh Hoa district.
