To ensure nutrition for the patient, the hospital teamed up with doctors from Central Military Hospital 108 to place an esophageal stent for him.

According to Senior Colonel, Dr. Duong Minh Thang, Deputy Head of the Endoscopy Department of Central Military Hospital 108, who directly made the placement, this technique is so difficult that doctors from Military Hospital 109 could not undertake it by themselves. The technique requires high levels of expertise in doctors, because if the stent is placed in the wrong position, the esophagus could break, causing hemorrhage and threatening the patient’s life.

It was a good opportunity for doctors of Military Hospital 109 to become acquainted with new technology, be active in increasing resistance in patient during the final stage of cancer and relieve the burden on higher-level hospitals.
