A Defense Ministry delegation, led by Deputy Defense Minister Sr. Lt. Gen. Le Chiem, checked the task performance and preparations for the Tet festival 2020 of the Border Guard and Military Commands of Quang Nam province, Cua Dai Border Post and Regiment 143 of Division 315 of Military Region 5.

General Chiem acknowledged the units’ all-out efforts and achievements over the past time. He asked the chains-of-command to continue directing the units to boost information dissemination and political education for troops and paying due attention to improving troops’ spiritual and material lives and troops’ families. Troops were urged to observe State laws and military discipline.

The units were requested to successfully organize all-level Party congresses, closely work with local Party committees and authorities and other forces to follow local situational developments, boost crime prevention and control, successfully address any possible situations in a timely manner, and maintain political security and social order and safety in the areas where the units are stationed.

On the occasion, General Chiem visited and extended Tet wishes to the Party Committees, authorities and people of Binh Tu commune (Thang Binh district) and Que Xuan 1 and 2 communes (Que Son district). He also presented Tet gifts to 60 local national contributors.

* Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics (GDP)  of the Vietnam People’s Army, and his entourage paid pre-Tet visits to the Border Post of the Le Thanh International Border Gate under the Gia Lai Provincial Border Guard Command, Company 1 of Duc Co district Military Command under the Gia Lai Provincial Military Command, Company 72 of Army Corps 15, Regiment 48 of Division 320 of Army Corps 3, the People’s Army Newspaper’s bureau in Gia Lai province, the Military Broadcasting Center's bureau in the Central Highlands, and Unit 3 under the GDP.

During the visits, General Phuong highly valued the units’ accomplishments gained last year and asked them to continue embracing the Party’s, Central Military Commission’s and Ministry of National Defense’s resolutions and directives and assigned missions. The units should maintain a strong combat readiness posture and organize a cozy, safe, and economical Tet festival for troops while ensuring a warm and safe Tet for local ethnic minority groups, poor people, and policy beneficiaries.

* A special program themed “Spring of Love” for child patients being treated at Pediatrics Hospital No.2 was jointly held by the Ho Chi Minh City Youth’s Social Affairs Center, Thuy’s Dream Program of the Tuoi Tre Newspaper, and TOA Paint (Vietnam) Co., Ltd. During the event, nearly 200 child patients were entertained with artistic and circus shows, folk games, and calligraphy writing. Especially, they were photographed free and received Tet gifts, each worth VND 1.3 million.

* As many as 500 needy laborers in Binh Thuan province joined a cultural exchange and received Tet gifts in a Tet program specially designed for them by the provincial Labor Union at Phan Thiet 1 Industrial Park.

* A similar Tet program was held by the Hanoi Municipal Labor Union for nearly 1,000 labor union members and workers in the city. At the event, the organizer presented 700 gifts, totally valued at over VND 700 million, and 156 prizes from lot-drawing programs with the total worth of over VND 185 million to labor union members.

* During a Border Spring program launched by the Military Science Academy and other civilian schools and agencies in Nam Chay commune, Muong Khuong district, Lao Cai province, over 200 local people were provided with free health checkups and medicines. Tet gifts were also presented to people with fatal illness, disadvantaged people, and primary schools in remote areas.

The organizer also gifted over 200 village patriarchs, village chiefs, national contributors, policy beneficiaries, lonely old people, Nam Chay Border Post-sponsored students, and other poor students in Nam Chay commune.
