* On January 11, a delegation of the General Department of Politics, led by its Deputy Director Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong, inspected and extended New Year greetings to troops of Regiment 1, Regiment 38 (Division 2, Military Region 5), Kon Tum provincial Military and Border Guard Commands.

On this occasion, General Phuong hailed the units’ task performance over the past time, asking them to continue embracing missions, resolutions and directions of the Party, Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense, maintaining a combat readiness posture and being ready for any situations. In addition, they should care for national contributors, needy people, and troops.

* On January 10, Lieutenant General Trinh Dinh Thach, Political Commissar of Military Region 5, visited and presented Tet gifts to policy and needy households in Quang Ngai province prior to the Lunar New Year 2020.

During his visit, General Thach informed local people of the socio-economic development, defense and military task performance of the region in 2019 and handed over 140 gifts (worth VND 500,000 each) to needy and policy households.

* The Military Region 1 Command also visited and granted Tet gifts to the Lang Son provincial armed forces and people in the border communes of Loc Binh and Dinh Lap district (Lang Son province). The unit also extended Tet greetings to troops in Chi Ma, Chi Lang and Bac Xa border posts.

* Military Region 7 asked troops in Phu Quy district island to continue promoting its traditions, heightening vigilance and combat readiness posture, and building a comprehensively strong unit. On this occasion, the delegation also presented Tet gifts to national contributors in the region.

* The General Department of Technical Services has recently inaugurated a gratitude house for Nguyen Thi Quat, 99 years old from Tan Phong 1 village, Phong Van commune (Ba Vi, Hanoi). She had three children who laid down their lives during wartime.

* A mission of the Ministry of National Defense (MND), led by Deputy Defense Minister and Head of the Steering Committee 1389 of the MND, Senior Lieutenant General Le Chiem inspected the task performance of the Kon Tum provincial Border Guard Command, Da Nang city’s Border Guard Command, and task-force squad No.2 of the Drug and Crime Prevention unit of the Vietnam Border Guard Command.

Hailing the outcomes, General Chiem asked the unit to implement political education work for troops while maintaining its combat readiness posture, especially during Tet holiday, closely working with other forces to embrace all situations in the area and making recommendations to the local authorities so that they can work out timely solutions.

On this occasion General Chiem also visited troops stationed in Da Nang and Kon Tum provinces. The General wished them a happy Lunar New Year and presented Tet gifts to needy people in Kon Tum province.
